Insulated Gold Cable

Summary
✅ Safe to touch: the rubber sheath completely prevents contact shock at every energy flow, regardless of neighbouring cable tiers or configured damage.
The Insulated Gold Cable is the rubber-upgraded version of the Gold Cable. It retains gold's 48 EU/FE/tick throughput and 128 EU/FE packet cap, but halves attenuation from 0.03 to 0.015 per block. It is the only MV wire that is safe to touch, which makes it the default choice for wiring inside a base once the oil, sulfur and Vulcanizer chain is available. Bare gold is the mod's most dangerous cable: 6 damage against LV's 2. The rubber sheath removes that risk entirely. supplied the insulation's energy advantage, supplied electrical safety, and added the gold grade together with the batch craft.
Energy
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Role | transfer |
| Tier | MV |
| Max voltage | 128 EU/FE/packet |
| Throughput | 48 EU/FE/tick = the segment working buffer |
| Loss | 0.015 attenuation per block; positive flow delivers max(1, ceil(N × 0.985^distance)) EU/FE/tick |
| Insulation | rubber; complete shock protection |
The formula follows the model: a positive packet always delivers at least 1 EU/FE, so a long line cannot prevent exact storage top-off. At the full 48 EU/FE/tick segment flow, insulated gold delivers 42/36/23/11/1 EU/FE over 10/20/50/100/1000 blocks; bare gold delivers 36/27/11/3/1 EU/FE. The half-distance grows from 23 to 46 blocks. In a mixed network, the cable with the higher packet cap determines the network loss. At equal caps, a bare grade takes priority over its insulated counterpart, so one insulated segment cannot improve a whole bare line. The reduced 0.015 rate therefore applies only to an entirely insulated gold network.
Block Properties
A thin wire with a rubber sheath that connects to neighbouring blocks. Any tool breaks it, and shears are especially handy.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Shape | thin rod (6px core + sleeves), |
| Hardness | 0.2 |
| Tool | any / shears |
Recipes
3×3 crafting CCC / RRR / CCC, where C is a gold cable and R is rubber, yielding 6 insulated gold cables — 0.5 rubber per cable. There is no wool alternative: insulation is a consumer of vulcanized rubber. Processing recipes: none.
Implementation
The block uses a dedicated insulated cable type with gold's buffer and packet cap. Its loss is × insulationLossMultiplier = 0.03 × 0.5` = 0.015. It is registered for both Fabric and NeoForge and participates in the shared cable network.
