Summary

Safe to touch: the rubber sheath completely prevents contact shock at every energy flow, regardless of neighbouring cable tiers or configured damage.

The Insulated Tin Cable is the rubber-upgraded version of the Tin Cable. It keeps tin's narrow 8 EU/FE/tick throughput and 8 EU/FE packet cap, but halves attenuation from 0.006 to 0.003 per block. It is the most efficient wire for solar farms and other low flows over long distances. Insulation does not make tin a replacement for copper: any flow above 8 EU/FE/tick still needs a copper line. The rubber sheath provides complete contact-damage protection. The old wool-and-water-resistance concept is retired; adds neither a wool recipe nor water resistance.

At the full 8 EU/FE/tick segment flow, insulated tin delivers 8/8/7/6/1 EU/FE over 10/20/50/100/1000 blocks; bare tin delivers 8/8/6/5/1 EU/FE. The 1 EU/FE minimum preserves 's exact top-off invariant. In a mixed network, the higher packet cap determines the network loss. At equal caps, a bare grade takes priority over its insulated counterpart, so inserting one insulated block cannot improve an entire bare line. The reduced 0.003 rate therefore applies only to an entirely insulated tin network.

Block Properties

A thin wire with a rubber sheath that connects to neighbouring blocks. Any tool breaks it, and shears are especially handy.

Recipes

3×3 crafting CCC / RRR / CCC, where C is a tin cable and R is rubber, yielding 6 insulated tin cables — 0.5 rubber per cable. There is no wool alternative. Processing recipes: none.

Implementation

The block uses a dedicated insulated cable type with tin's buffer and packet cap. Its loss is × insulationLossMultiplier = 0.006 × 0.5` = 0.003. It is registered for both Fabric and NeoForge and participates in the shared cable network.
