Summary
⚠️ Electrical safety: deals 2 damage not only on direct contact but also within 0.5 blocks of the segment (bareCableShockProximityRadius, — but only while energy is actually moving through this exact bare segment. A disconnected line and retained buffer EU/FE are safe. Normal armor applies; water does not amplify the hit; a solid block between the cable and the player blocks the shock. Servers can disable the mechanic withbareCableShockEnabled. To lower the hit chance without removing the hazard, use an insulating stand — or replace the bare grade with the Insulated Tin Cable, which is safe outright.
The Tin Cable is the cheapest wire in the mod and the first rung of the cable ladder. It is narrow — 8 EU/FE/tick against copper's 12 — but it loses energy 3.3× more slowly: 0.006 per block against 0.02. That gives it a clear niche: solar farms. Every cable protects a single panel's 1 EU/FE packet from complete loss, but tin attenuates a farm's combined flow 3.3 times more slowly than copper. From an 8 EU/FE/tick flow over 50 blocks, tin delivers 6 EU/FE while copper delivers 3. For dense, high-power lines (a fuel generator pushes 8 EU/FE/tick, a geothermal one 16) tin is not enough — that is copper's job.
Energy
The cable carries LV energy and connects to neighbouring blocks. Each wire run from a source to a consumer costs a little EU/FE; the exact formula is in the table.

The cable does not explode from overload: 8 EU/FE/packet is only a cap, and anything above it simply does not pass through. A stronger flow needs a higher cable — copper (LV) or gold (MV).
Mixed networks. A network takes both its throughput cap and its loss from the strongest cable in it. One gold segment spliced into a tin line lifts the whole network to 128 EU/FE/packet — but also to gold's 0.03 loss per block. Tin only delivers its low loss when the line is tin throughout.
