Insulated Chestplate
Summary
The insulated set is four pieces — hood, jacket, trousers and boots — worn protection against the shock of a live bare cable. It is not armour: protection sits at the leather line, and what you buy is not numbers but the ability to work around live wiring while you still have no way to insulate it.
The recipe is a leather armour piece plus one slime ball. Slime rather than the mod's own rubber is not a flourish — it is the only thing that gives the set a reason to exist: three rubber turn into six insulated cables, so anyone able to craft rubber armour could insulate the wire itself instead, more cheaply and permanently. A slime ball cannot be turned into cable insulation at all, and a swamp is something a player has long before oil — which puts the set exactly in the window it was meant for: between your first bare copper line and your first drop of rubber.
Mini-example: you are running copper cable from a generator to a macerator, brush against the wire, and lose a heart. You visit a swamp, dip a leather set in slime, put it on — the wire stops biting, and the coating slowly wears away instead. Once you have rubber and relay the line in insulated cable, the set can come off.
Energy
Not applicable: the set holds no charge and draws no EU/FE.
How it is used
Worn in the ordinary armour slots. Each piece cuts its own share of the shock (25 % by default), so a partial set protects partially: three pieces leave a quarter of the damage, four let nothing through.
The protection is narrow on purpose — it covers a cable's shock and nothing else. Against falls, mobs and everything else the set is exactly as good as leather armour would be.
Durability pays for what the set stopped. Contact with a wire is continuous — a player standing next to one is shocked once a second — so wear is a rate rather than a per-hit price: a full set spends 1 point per LV shock, 2 per MV and 3 per HV. In practice that is about four and a half minutes of unbroken contact with a copper cable for the helmet and nearly seven for the chestplate; on an electrum line the same pieces last a third as long. A broken piece stops protecting. Repaired on an anvil with leather.
The shielding suit insulates as well: it is made of leather and rubber and is repaired with rubber, so "wearing a full rubber suit and still being electrocuted" would be the material contradicting itself. There is no symmetry the other way — the insulated set does nothing against radiation, because slime stops a current and has no opinion about gamma rays.
Block properties
Not applicable: these are items, not a block.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Slots | helmet / chestplate / leggings / boots |
| Defense | 1 / 3 / 2 / 1 (the leather line) |
| Durability | 275 / 400 / 375 / 325 |
| Toughness | none |
| Enchantability | 15 |
| Repair | leather |
| Shock share | 25 % per worn piece, 100 % for a full set |
Defense and durability answer different questions: the first is how much the set stops, the second is how long the coating lasts. Hence leather-line defense — the set tanks nothing — and durability well above leather's.
Appearance
The warm-toned leather base stays visible exactly where the coating would wear through first: the belt, the cuffs, the hood band and the knee pads. Over it sits a glossy green coating with drips along the lower edges, so the slime reads as wet rather than as paint. The hood leaves the face open: this is work clothing, not a sealed suit.
Nothing in the mod was green before — tempered iron is blue-grey steel, Fluxweave is a cold near-black, the shielding suit is yellow — so the set is recognisable in the inventory without reading the label.

Progression
The set is the first rung of electrical safety, not the last. The full ladder:
- The insulated set — early, worn, consumable. It protects the player, not the line.
- An insulating stand (planks, wool or glass under a segment) — free and immediate, but it only
covers walking past, and only that one segment.
- Insulated cable — the permanent answer: no hazard at all, and half the losses. Needs rubber,
which means oil and two machines.
- The shielding suit — late, and insulates as a side effect.
