Fuel Oil
Summary
Fuel oil is the heavy residue of distillation: 200 mB out of every bucket of oil, running down into the bottom tank of the Distillation Column. Thick and dark-brown; more hassle by volume and less by yield — exactly what a bottom fraction should be. Like diesel it neither burns nor drowns. You can fall into spilled fuel oil: thicker than diesel but thinner than crude — you sink more slowly and climb out by holding jump. Below the surface a dark brown film covers the screen.
Mini-example: a third pump at the base of the tower pulls fuel oil away into a separate tank — or put an empty bucket into the fuel oil slot in the interface.

Progression
A by-product of the column — it accumulates on its own while diesel is being distilled; if you do not take it away, a full bottom tank will halt the distillation. Its purpose is cheap fuel: the liquid fuel generator will burn it at 6 EU/FE/t (6 000 EU/FE per bucket) — half as strong as diesel. Included in the c:combustion_fuels tag alongside diesel and lava.
