Advanced Industrial Workbench

Summary
The Advanced Industrial Workbench is the next tier of the Industrial Workbench. It does everything the first tier does: an ordinary 3×3 crafting grid, every recipe of the game and the mod, and a memory of the last craft with a ghost hint of the recipe. On top of that it adds what the first tier lacks:
- it keeps the grid — close the window and the items stay in their cells; break the block and they drop, like from a chest;
- the "Clear grid" button moves everything from the grid into your inventory in one click;
- shift-click on the result crafts again and again while the grid holds enough materials;
- one shared grid — two players can open the same workbench at once and see the same cells, like a chest;
- pipes and hoppers fill in the ingredients and take the finished result by themselves (see "Behavior");
- a comparator shows how full the grid is;
- items are visible on the top — small 3D items lie on the 3×3 grid, and the result floats above them.
It needs no energy and no redstone. It is not a villager job site: the Industrialist profession and the trades stay with the first tier only.
Block Properties
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Shape | full block (cube), the grid items lie on the top |
| Tool | pickaxe (no drop without one) |
| Sound | metal |
| Energy | not required |
| Interface | its own window: 3×3 grid, result, a "Clear grid" button |
| Role | a workbench only — not a villager POI |
Interface
Right-click opens a window laid out like an ordinary workbench: the 3×3 grid, the result slot and the player inventory. Differences from the first tier:
- Items stay. Closing the window returns nothing to the player — everything lies in the block and waits. Items survive relogging and chunk reloads.
- "Clear grid". The button moves every item of the grid into the player's inventory. Whatever does not fit stays in the grid.
- Shift-click on the result crafts while the grid holds enough materials for the next craft; items are not duplicated, ingredients are consumed as in a normal craft.
- One workbench, one grid for everyone. If two players have the block open, both see and change the same cells, like a chest.
- Craft memory works as in the first tier: the recipe last crafted on this workbench appears as a faint ghost layout in the empty cells. Every workbench has its own memory.
Behavior
Pipes and hoppers on top and on the sides
An item that a pipe or hopper pushes in from the top or a side is accepted only into the cells where the remembered recipe expects exactly that item, and is spread evenly between such cells. Anything extra (into a cell the recipe does not expect it in, or beyond what is needed) is refused. While the workbench remembers no recipe it accepts nothing — craft the wanted item by hand once first.
A pipe or hopper below
From below a pipe or hopper takes the result, but only when a full recipe lies in the grid. The workbench crafts the item by itself and the ingredients are consumed as in a manual craft. This makes the workbench an automatic line: ingredients come in from the top and the sides, the finished item leaves from below. No energy and no redstone are needed.
Comparator
The comparator signal shows how full the grid is: the more cells are occupied, the stronger the signal.
Look
The grid items lie on the top as small 3D models and the result of the current layout floats above them. Data is sent to the client only when the grid changes.
Energy
It neither consumes nor produces energy. Automatic crafting runs without EU/FE and without redstone.
