Summary

The Advanced Fluid Tank is the second grade of the portable tank. It does the same job in the same way, but holds 16 buckets (16,000 mB) instead of eight, survives an explosion far better, and does not burn when dropped in lava.

It is crafted from a tier-one tank: the old tank goes in the middle of the grid and becomes part of the new one rather than being thrown away.

Everything else is identical: one fluid at a time, input and output on all six faces, no automatic push, contents kept when the block is moved.

Both grades move fluid at the same speed, and that is not an oversight. The tank is passive — it has no tick of its own, and the pace by pipes and the pump. The second grade improves what the tank actually has, capacity and toughness, rather than an invented statistic.

×2, and no more. The mod already applies that ratio to the tier-two item pipe, for the same reason: a larger multiplier makes the grade below it worthless on the day the new one becomes craftable, and a tier the player skips is a tier that did not need to exist.

Sixteen buckets does put this tank above a machine tank's ten. That is deliberate: the first grade is intentionally smaller than a machine, and the second is what you build to beat it.

Recipe

C S C C - cupronickel reinforced plate
S T S S - silver plate
C S C T - portable fluid tank (first grade)

The shape is copied from the advanced item pipe: in this mod a second grade is always built out of the first.

Appearance

The trim is silver rather than copper, which reads in the hand and in the inventory. At 16x16 a recoloured corner is invisible from a distance, though, so the block carries a geometric difference too: a belt around the frame at mid height. The belt sits outside the glass plane, so it neither blocks the view inside nor argues with the fluid rendering.

Portable Fluid Tank - the first grade and all the shared mechanics.
