Tempered Iron Pickaxe

Summary
The Tempered Iron Pickaxe is the mod's first hand tool. It is crafted like a normal pickaxe — three ingots on top, two sticks below — but uses the mod's tempered iron instead of plain iron. On every stat it is a touch better than the vanilla iron pickaxe: 100 more durability, slightly faster mining, slightly more damage, and a little better at catching enchantments. It cannot mine diamond-level blocks (diamond ore, obsidian, ancient debris), though — same as iron — so the diamond progression is not devalued. It is the natural upgrade slot between an iron pickaxe and your first diamond one.
Mini-example: you have iron but no diamonds yet. Smelt that iron into tempered iron, craft this pickaxe, and you have 350 durability of mining at speed 7.0 — enough to last you comfortably until you finally strike diamonds.
Stats
The baseline is the vanilla iron pickaxe. Every difference fits in one table:
| Stat | Iron (vanilla) | Tempered iron |
|---|---|---|
| Durability | 250 | 350 (+100) |
| Mining speed | 6.0 | 7.0 |
| Attack damage | 4.0 | 4.5 |
| Enchantability | 14 | 16 |
| Attack speed | same as iron | same as iron |
| Mining level | iron | iron (diamond/obsidian/ancient debris — no) |
| Repair at anvil | iron ingot | tempered iron |
It drops nothing from diamond ore, diamond deepslate, obsidian and ancient debris — exactly like iron. That is the single limit that keeps it short of diamond.
How it behaves
Mining: mines everything a pickaxe should, at speed 7.0 — a bit faster than iron. Diamond-level blocks drop nothing and mine more slowly, exactly like an iron pickaxe. Combat: 4.5 damage, same attack speed as iron. The slightly higher damage is its only combat edge. Durability: 350 (100 more than iron), spent on mining and hits like any tool. It needs no EU/FE — just ordinary wear. Enchanting: enchantability 16 (vs iron's 14), so it catches enchantments a little better. The enchanting table offers the full vanilla pickaxe set — Efficiency, Unbreaking, Fortune, Silk Touch, Mending. Repair: in the anvil with tempered iron, at the vanilla XP cost.

Recipes
Crafted at a workbench in the vanilla pickaxe pattern — three tempered iron ingots on top and two sticks down the centre. Repair it at an anvil with tempered iron, the way an iron ingot repairs a vanilla iron pickaxe.
Progression
A hand tool — not tied to the mod's energy tiers. It slots between the vanilla iron pickaxe and the diamond one: by durability and speed it is closer to iron, and it does not overlap diamond on block access. It appears as soon as you start smelting iron into tempered iron in bulk — a natural upgrade to carry you until your first diamond pickaxe.
