Summary

The Iron Chest is a storage block with 36 slots (4 rows of 9) — a whole row more than the vanilla chest. It uses no energy; it's just a bigger place to keep your stuff, one tier above the vanilla copper chest.

Mini-example: Copper chest full of ore? Upgrade it: put the copper chest in the center of a crafting grid and surround it with 8 iron ingots → Iron Chest, +9 slots, contents preserved.

It looks like a proper 3D chest with an animated lid (same shape as the vanilla wooden chest, only a different colour) and plays its own metallic open/close sound.

Inventory

Takes any items — 36 slots in 4 rows of 9. Shift-click moves stacks between the chest and your inventory.

Interface

A normal container window — no energy or progress bars, just the storage grid and your inventory below it. The window is slightly taller than a vanilla chest's because of the 4th row.

Double Chest

Two iron chests placed side by side, facing the same way, merge into one double chest of 72 slots — following the vanilla placement rules exactly: without sneaking the new chest joins a matching neighbour automatically, sneak-clicking the side of a lone neighbour attaches to it deliberately, and sneak-placing elsewhere keeps it single. Different tiers never merge.

The double's window shows 6 rows; the rest are reached with the scrollbar on the right (like the storage module's warehouse window). Shift-click reaches the hidden rows too. Lid and sound are shared: both halves lift the lid together and the opening sound plays once, from the seam. Automation sees the double as one container: a hopper, dropper or item pipe that hits a full half continues into the other. Breaking one half reverts the other to a single chest; each half spills only its own contents. An open double window closes when either half is broken. A stock display frame on either half shows the combined total.

Along with the doubles, every tier gained two vanilla conveniences: a comparator reads the chest's fullness (a double reads combined, the same from either half), and the chest can be waterlogged like a vanilla one.

Block Properties

A short chest block (like all vanilla chests). Any pickaxe breaks it; it drops itself and spills its contents.

Recipes

Crafted at a workbench: a copper chest in the center, surrounded by 8 iron ingots. Any oxidation stage of copper chest works, including the waxed one — its contents carry over.

Progression

The chest line goes: vanilla copper chest (27) → Iron Chest (36)Silver Chest (45) → Gold Chest (54) → Electrum Chest (81).

Silver Chest — the next tier up. Stock Display Frame — hang one on the chest to see its count at a glance. Battery Box — the mod's other "storage" block, but for energy.
