Summary
The Lapotron Crystal cannot be crafted directly. The bench gives you a blank — a shell with an EU/FE buffer that accepts energy in any charge slot and gives nothing back. Once the buffer fills to the brim the blank disappears and the finished crystal takes its place.
The finished crystal is an ordinary item: no charge bar, no charge line, nothing to charge or drain. The energy was the price of making it, not its contents. From then on it is simply a crafting material.
Mini-example: drop the blank into a CESU charge slot and go do something else. Come back and the slot holds the finished crystal.

128 EU/FE/t is a hardware ceiling rather than a choice: no charge slot in the mod fills an item faster. The crystal prices are chosen against that speed, so the time in the table is what you will actually see.
How it's used
Any charger will do: a Battery Box slot, a CESU slot, a Charging Station, a worn Energy Pack, a right-click transfer from a Battery, and even another mod's charger — the item exposes item energy on both loaders.
The finished crystal only ever goes into crafting.

Recipes
What you craft is the blank: a finished Energy Crystal in the middle, advanced circuits in the corners, resonance coils at the sides, an Energy Clot II below. The finished crystal has no recipe at all — charging the blank is the only way to get one, and recipe viewers show an information page for it instead.
Progression
The ladder: Energy Crystal → Lapotron Crystal → Resonant Crystal. This tier's blank is built around the finished previous one (Energy Crystal), so a rung cannot be skipped. It goes into the next tier's blank — Resonant Crystal. Every blank fills from empty: a finished crystal carries no charge, so there is nothing to carry into the next rung.
