Summary

Mutation products are materials that sit in no chest, no ore and no crafting grid: only the Incubator yields them. They come in two groups.

The first rung of four ladders (creation mode, 0.25 chance, 8000 EU/FE per attempt):

By-products of the machine running:

Depleted Uranium — what a uranium ingot burns down into: one ingot is three attempts and then settles in the ash slot. It is also the input of the nuclear ladder, so the Incubator's ash feeds the Incubator. Irradiated Slag — turns up in 5 % of attempts instead of a plain failure. The input is lost.

Mini-example: four uranium ingots through the Incubator give twelve attempts and four depleted ingots. Put those back into the input with a creation chip and try to lift them to unstable isotopes.

Energy

None of these materials stores energy. The EU/FE is spent by the Incubator at the moment of the attempt.

How it is used

Honestly: today, hardly at all. All four first-rung materials exist, can be obtained and can be stacked in a chest — but nothing in this release consumes them. Rungs two and three of the ladders (the diamond matrix, the focusing lens, the living mutagen, the enriched core and everything above) are not implemented yet.

The one working use right now is Depleted Uranium: it goes back into the machine as the input of the nuclear branch.

Stockpiling the rest only makes sense if you enjoy being ready early. Building a farm of Incubators for their sake is premature.

Inventory

Not applicable (items). Stack: 64. Depleted uranium is taken from the ash slot (automation: pull only), the mutation result and the slag from the output slot.

Not applicable (items).

Recipes

None of them is crafted: only the Incubator with a creation chip — and depleted uranium and slag are not "made" at all, they appear as traces of the machine working.

There are no reverse recipes either: a resonant shard cannot be turned back into an amethyst.

Progression

They open up together with the Incubator, i.e. after uranium and the uranium plate. The first rung is the cheapest part of the ladder, and even so three attempts in four are lost. The point of these materials arrives with rungs 2–3; until then this is a collection.
