Summary
The Generator burns solid fuel — coal, charcoal, a block of coal, anything that burns in a vanilla furnace — and turns it into EU/FE. It's the no-fuss power source you reach for when there's no sun and no wind: it just runs, day or night, rain or shine.
Mini-example: drop a piece of coal in, point a cable at it, and you've got 8 EU/FE/t steady power for your first Macerator. It ignores the weather — the only thing it cares about is fuel.
Energy
The generator only produces power — it never takes any in. It holds up to 4000 EU/FE inside and sends it out on an LV line.

Energy leaves through the 5 working faces. The front face (the one facing you when you place it) is inert — cables don't connect there and hoppers don't work through it.
Generation
Feed it any vanilla furnace fuel. It burns at a steady 8 EU/FE/t for as long as the fuel lasts; when the buffer is full, it pauses until there's room again.

Each unit of fuel gives you its vanilla burn time worth of EU/FE, paid out at 8 EU/FE/t.

Interface
One screen shows the buffer level, how much burn time is left on the current fuel, the fuel slot and the output rate.
Block Properties
An ordinary solid block. Any pickaxe breaks it, but it does NOT keep its charge when broken — drain the energy into a Battery Box before you pick it up.

Recipes
Crafted at a workbench. It's a generator, not a processing machine, so it has no processing recipes of its own.
Progression
Tier: LV. The starter fuel-burner. It doesn't evolve into anything — the stronger fuel generator (Geothermal Generator) is a separate block you craft from this one.
