Advanced Electromagnet

Summary
The Advanced Electromagnet does what the ordinary one does, only further and smarter. The radius is 9 blocks against five, the buffer is four times larger and it charges four times faster. It sits in any inventory slot and is switched on and off with the same press.
The main difference is not the radius. The second tier also pulls experience — and it is the only one that does. The ordinary magnet does not see experience at all.
Energy
| Ordinary | Advanced | |
|---|---|---|
| Buffer | 5,000 EU/FE | 20,000 EU/FE |
| Charge intake | 32 EU/FE/t | 128 EU/FE/t |
| Radius | 5 blocks | 9 blocks |
| Price per item | 2 EU/FE | 2 EU/FE |
| Price per experience orb | — | 4 EU/FE |
The price per item is the same for both tiers: the second tier pays for reach and for experience, not for speed.
Behaviour
Only the experience the vanilla game cannot reach on its own is pulled. The player has their own pickup radius for experience; anything already inside it the magnet leaves alone and charges nothing for. Otherwise the second tier would be spending EU/FE on work that is done for free anyway.
A magnet that is switched off spends nothing and pulls nothing — the state is toggled by hand and remembered in the item.
Recipes
The advanced one is built FROM the ordinary one: that goes in the centre, reinforced electrum plates in the corners, advanced circuits at the sides, an energy crystal at the bottom centre. The magnet goes into the recipe in any state — charged, empty, on or off: the one in your pocket, not a specially prepared one.
Progression
The second tier is a late thing: advanced circuits and an energy crystal place it after the base already produces steady power. Until then the first tier is enough.
