Extractor
alaindustrial:extractor
Summary
The Extractor is an LV machine that pulls useful material out of raw inputs: dyes from flowers, seeds from pumpkin and melon, blaze powder from blaze rods, flint from gravel. It's nearly always a better deal than the vanilla routes — a flower gives two dyes instead of one at the crafting table — which makes it a nice node for hopper-fed auto-farms.
Mini-example: drop a poppy in, get two red dyes back instead of the one the crafting table gives. Hook a few up to a flower farm and dyes stop being a chore.
Energy
The Extractor only consumes EU/FE and keeps a small buffer for smooth running.
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Internal buffer | 800 EU/FE |
| Max input | 32 EU/FE/t (LV) |
| Consumption | 2 EU/FE/t while working |
An LV machine — it draws up to 32 EU/FE per tick. Any surplus in the network isn't taken, the block isn't damaged. Energy comes in on the five working faces. The front face (the one the machine "looks" toward) is inert — cables don't connect there and hoppers don't work through it.
Processing
Each pull costs 240 EU/FE and takes 120 ticks (~6 s). The finished result doesn't pop out on its own — pick it up by hand or with a hopper.
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Duration | 120 ticks (~6 s) |
| Cost per operation | 240 EU/FE |
| Auto-output | no |
Inventory
One input slot, one output slot.
| Slot | Takes | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Input | items the Extractor can process | 1 |
| Output | the result | 1 |
Interface
One screen shows the energy buffer, the progress, the input slot and the output slot.
Block Properties
An ordinary solid block, softer than stone. Any pickaxe breaks it, but it does NOT keep its charge when broken.
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Tool | pickaxe |
| Keeps charge on break | no |
Sound
While running (lit), the extractor emits a mechanical grinding hum — the loop (pattern A, humVolume 0.18). It falls silent when idle
Recipes
The Extractor is crafted at a workbench (the same casing layout as the other LV machines). What it pulls out, and why it's usually worth it:
| Input | Output | Why it's better |
|---|---|---|
| Most flowers (poppy, dandelion, cornflower, lily of the valley, sea pickle, cactus) | ×2 dye | crafting table gives ×1 |
| Lilac, wither rose | ×3 dye | the rich sources give a little extra |
| Kelp | ×1 green dye | little pigment — same as crafting |
| Pumpkin | ×5 seeds | crafting table gives ×4 |
| Melon slice | ×2 seeds | crafting table gives ×1 |
| Blaze rod | ×3 blaze powder | handy bulk route |
| Gravel | flint | a reliable way to get flint |
So the rule of thumb: for plant matter the Extractor always pays a little better than the crafting table, and it's the natural sink for a hopper-fed farm's output.
Progression
Tier: LV. A convenience machine — dyes and seeds aren't critical to progression, but the Extractor makes them painless. It doesn't evolve into anything in v0.1. Needs power from an LV source, e.g. a Generator.
