Summary

Tin is the mod's earliest metal and the backbone of its LV tier: the wires and circuits your first machines run on. Its ore spawns in stone and in deepslate at middling depths, and is mined with any stone pickaxe or better.

Mini-example: one vein, two routes. Smelt the ore in a furnace and you get 1 ingot. Run the same ore block (or the raw drop) through a Macerator first and you get 2 dust — which smelt into 2 ingots. The macerator route is twice the yield per ore.

There is no vanilla tin, so the ingot is a mod item.

FormHow you get it
Ore (stone / deepslate)mined in the world; pickaxe drops raw, Silk Touch gives the block
Rawthe pickaxe drop from the ore; smelts into an ingot
Dusta block of ore or the raw grinds into 2 dust; a finished ingot grinds into 1
Ingotsmelting the raw, the ore, or the dust

Where to find it

Tin is the most common of the mod's metals, generating across middling depths (roughly the same band as copper). You will run into it routinely while early-game caving.

Block Properties

It behaves like a vanilla ore: it needs a stone pickaxe or better, the drop scales with Fortune, and Silk Touch yields the ore block itself.

FieldValue
Toolstone pickaxe or better (wood/gold drop nothing)
Dropraw tin ×1 (Fortune multiplies; Silk Touch → the block)

Recipes (processing)

Two routes out of one vein. Furnace route (no machines): smelt the raw (or the ore) into an ingot — 1 ingot per ore. Macerator route (doubling): grind a block of ore or the raw into 2 dust, then smelt each dust into an ingot — 2 ingots per ore. Re-processing a finished ingot grinds back down to 1 dust (no doubling). The doubling applies to both the whole ore block and the raw — macerate either form.

Progression

Tin is the gateway to LV machinery: tin and copper wire are assembled into the Electronic Circuit, and every LV machine needs at least one. That makes tin the early-crafting bottleneck — keep a steady supply flowing into your first Macerator and furnace.
