Sawdust
alaindustrial:sawdust
Summary
Sawdust is fine wood crumb that the sawmill makes in its fifth mode, "Sawdust". It is not a new economy but a little life around the neighbouring machines: sawdust has three uses, and all three are deliberately weak.
Mini-example: a log in "Sawdust" mode gives 6 sawdust for 160 EU/FE. Four sawdust in the fermenter make 20 mB of biofuel.
Obtaining
The only source is the sawmill in "Sawdust" mode:
| Input | Output | Cost |
|---|---|---|
1 log that burns, any species (#minecraft:logs_that_burn) | 6 sawdust | 160 EU/FE |
| 1 bamboo block | 3 sawdust | 160 EU/FE |
Crimson and warped stems from the Nether are not sawn into sawdust: they do not burn themselves, and sawdust from them would be fuel made from something that is not.
Recipes
Sawdust is not crafted into anything — three machines use it up:
- Fermenter — poor organic feedstock: 4 sawdust per batch, 20 mB of biofuel and a 6 % biomass chance. The fermenter recognises sawdust by the common
c:dusts/woodtag, so other mods' sawdust works too. - Recycler — the combustible fraction (by the same tag), weighing as a plain item — 2.
- Furnace, iron furnace, generator — fuel for 50 ticks, like bamboo: half a stick.
Item Properties
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | a plain item with two tooltip lines |
| Stack | 64 |
| Furnace fuel | 50 ticks (like bamboo) |
| Tag | c:dusts/wood |
| Composter | no |
Progression
- Arrives with the sawmill, an early LV machine.
- Sawing for fuel does not pay: six sawdust burn exactly as long as the log itself (300 ticks), and the cut costs 160 EU/FE on top. Sawing for biofuel does not either: the fermenter spends 600 EU/FE on 20 mB, and inside the mod biofuel is never burnt — it only goes to distillation.
