Biofuel
Summary
Biofuel is what the fermenter brews out of organic matter and water. It does not and cannot occur in the world: the only source is the fermenter, and therefore a garden bed, a henhouse or a compost heap behind the base. That sets it apart in principle from the oil branch: oil is a finite lake that will be pumped dry sooner or later, biofuel is a renewable resource that grows itself.
The colour is a murky olive; the fluid is thin — thinner than any oil fraction.
Mini-example: a pipe from the bottom face of the fermenter runs into a portable tank, and from there into the middle of the distillation column. Biofuel has nowhere else to go: the column is its only consumer.
Block Properties
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Physics | it spreads; does not burn in the world, does not drown, no fall damage |
| Immersion | the lightest of them all bar the solution: holding jump gets you out more easily than out of diesel |
| Under the surface | a murky olive film on the screen, fog from 4.5 to 24 blocks |
| Replenishes | no — two sources do not breed a third |
| Collection | a bucket, a vacuum capsule, a pump |
| Tag | c:biofuel (source + flowing) |
The physics are taken from the oil fractions unchanged: this is a refined fluid poured between tanks, not raw material out of the ground. Standing in spilled biofuel is safe.
Obtaining
Only the fermenter; the volume per batch depends on the feedstock
| Feedstock tier | Eats | Biofuel per batch |
|---|---|---|
| Poor (garden litter) | 4 items | 20 mB |
| Common (harvest, raw meat, eggs) | 2 items | 60 mB |
| Rich (cooked, golden, honey, hay bales) | 1 item | 150 mB |
Every batch costs 600 EU/FE, 300 ticks and 100 mB of water — the same for all three tiers.
Uses
Just one: a second distillation. The distillation column accepts biofuel into its input tank on the same footing as oil and fuel oil:
1000 mB of biofuel + 400 EU/FE → 900 mB of nutrient solution
The 10 % loss is the mod's general rule of processing: volume never grows.
As a combustible, biofuel is not used yet: it is not part of the conventional c:combustion_fuels tag (diesel, fuel oil, lava), and no generator burns it. That is a deliberate gap, not an oversight: at this step biofuel is the feedstock of the agriculture chain, not a second source of energy. Once a liquid fuel generator exists, the question will come back as its own task.
Progression
It appears together with the fermenter — the start of the organic chain. The middle of the chain: fermenter → biofuel → distillation column → nutrient solution → sprinkler. A bucket (1000 mB) yields 900 mB of solution, that is 18 waterings.
