Summary

The Charging Bed is a low bed in a shift worker's house, two cells long, like a bed: a tempered iron plinth, a mattress and a headboard console with copper contacts. For a shift worker this is sleep: in the evening, by its daily routine, it goes home, lies down on the bed with its head at the headboard and charges all night from its house's inlet.

Quick example: in a restored capsule house the bed is already in place. In the evening the house's resident comes home, lies down on the bed, charges all night and gets up in the morning.

How it works

  1. Two cells, like a bed. The bed has a head and a foot: a shift worker lies along it, over both cells. A broken half takes the other one with it; one item drops. A construction drone places the bed whole in one step and for one item.
  2. Placing. The foot goes into the cell you clicked and the head into the next cell the way you look; if that cell is taken, the bed is not placed.
  3. No store of its own. The bed holds no EU/FE and takes no cable. It takes the energy for the worker from its house's inlet: from what the inlet holds right now.
  4. Its own place. The settlement knows where the bed stands in a house from the house's plan. The bed is one of the key points of a house fit to live in: without it the house does not count and its resident moves out.
  5. Sleep. In the evening (around 12500 ticks, each a little earlier or later) a resident goes to the bed of its house, lies down once it stands inside the house within 2.5 blocks of the head, and charges from the inlet all night, full or not; in the morning it gets up beside the bed and goes about its day. By day it lies down only with less than 10 % of its charge, and gets up full. A shift worker running from a mob does not lie down, and a wound gets it up. If the inlet is empty, the resident lies and waits for the inlet to fill.
  6. Only at home. A resident charges only at home; it no longer charges at the core. A shift worker without a house charges at the Settlement Core, as before.
  7. Not for the player. A player does not sleep in the bed.
