Summary

Carbon Ceramic is the end of a chain that starts with a stack of coal. The block is assembled at a workbench from four ceramic plates and comes apart again without loss, like a vanilla ingot and its block.

Mini-example: a stack of coal → dust → four rods → two doubled ones → a briquette with slag → four plates → one block.

The full chain — six rungs and five different mechanisms:

StepMechanismInOut
1Macerator64 coal64 coal dust · 19,200 EU/FE
2Compressor16 coal dust ×44 rods · 1,040 EU/FE
3Workbench + forge hammer2 rods ×22 double rods
4Alloy smelter2 double rods + slag (4 / 2 / 1)1 briquette · 1,200 EU/FE
5Quench press (water + piston)1 briquette4 plates
6Workbench4 plates (2×2)1 block

21,440 EU/FE per block in total, 90 % of it paid by the milling.

One stack of coal, one block. The price in coal does not depend on the grade of the slag; the grade only decides how much slag goes in, and that is where sorting your junk in the Recycler pays off.

Block Properties

A dense solid block. Any pickaxe breaks it, and it drops itself.

Recipes

4 plates → 1 block (workbench, 2×2 square). 1 block → 4 plates (workbench, shapeless).

The cycle is reversible and lossless: the block is a way to store plates densely and a building material at the same time, not a dead end.

Progression

Ceramic arrives in the middle of the tech tree — it needs a macerator, a compressor, a Recycler and an alloy smelter. Before it, coal in this mod was only generator fuel; after it, coal has a floor you can pour any stockpile into.

A reactor-room wall of 5×5×3 is about twenty blocks, which is twenty stacks of coal.

Carbon rod — the start of the chain. Carbon briquette — the fired middle. Ceramic plate — what the block is assembled from. Recycler — the source of the slag, and the sorting rule that pays off here. Alloy smelter — the machine that fires the plates.
