Electric Bow
alaindustrial:electric_bow
Summary
The Electric Bow is the ranged half of the combat branch of the powered-equipment line: after the Electric Saber (melee), shooting gets its turn. Same contract as the rest of the line — it runs on EU/FE instead of durability and never breaks — except that, unlike the saber, a flat bow does not become an ordinary one: its arrow drops at your feet. Otherwise an unbreakable bow would be a free weapon forever, with no reason to charge it.
Charge buys a better shot, not free arrows: arrows are used up exactly as with a vanilla bow, and EU/FE is paid on top — for a quick draw and a fast, tight arrow.
| State | Full draw | Arrow speed | Point-blank damage | Spread | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charged (≥ 150 EU/FE) | 0.8 s (16 ticks) | 3.45 blocks/tick (69 blocks/s) | 7 (crit 7–11) | half | 150 EU/FE per shot |
| Flat | 1.0 s (20 ticks) | 0.1 blocks/tick — drops at your feet | 1, no crit | — | arrow spent, no EU/FE |
A flat bow drops its arrow about a block ahead, however far it is drawn. A full 10 000 EU/FE buffer lasts 66 shots.
Like the mod's other EU/FE items, the bow has no durability and never breaks: the bar under the icon shows charge (gold, the LV colour), not wear.
Energy
Its own EU/FE buffer, outside the energy network. It charges in the Battery Box slot, from a worn Energy Pack and on the Charging Station, and spends charge only on shots that actually happen.
| What | Value |
|---|---|
| Role | powered hand weapon with an EU/FE buffer: a consumer at a charger |
| Buffer | 10 000 EU/FE |
| Charging | Battery Box slot / worn pack, ≤ 32 EU/FE/tick (capped by the LV ceiling) → a full charge in ~16 s |
| Drain | 150 EU/FE per shot of a charged bow |
| Idle drain | none |
| Component | (Long, persistent + network-synchronised) — shared by every powered item in the mod |
The drain happens server-side only and only when an arrow actually leaves: without arrows the bow will not draw, and a release too short to fire does not shoot — neither costs any charge. Creative mode spends nothing. The Frugal Stroke skill lowers the price of a shot the same way it lowers the work of the line's other tools.
Low-charge warning. When the charge falls below 10% of capacity, the owner hears a short beep and sees "Low charge: item name — N%" above the hotbar. The warning is personal: only the player using the item gets it. It fires once, on crossing the threshold; while the item stays below it and keeps spending, it repeats no more than once every 60 seconds, and an item picked up already low warns on its first spend. When what is left no longer pays for the next action (a block, a hit or a shot), a separate signal sounds and the line "Out of charge: item name" appears — once, until the item is charged back above the price of an action. Such an item never reaches zero: below the price of an action it works as a plain one, without the electric drive. Creative players and spectators get no warning. The switch is.
Inventory
Not applicable — the bow has no internal item storage (stacks to 1).

Recipes
Crafting — the same frame as the rest of the line, with a vanilla bow in the centre: a row of iron ingots on top, two batteries at the sides, two copper coils and an electronic circuit at the bottom. The batteries' charge carries over into the finished bow. The recipe unlocks in the book once the player has a copper coil, an electronic circuit and a bow (advancement recipes/misc/electric_bow).
- Repair — not applicable: there is no durability to repair; "repair" means recharging.
Behaviour
- A charged shot. While the buffer holds at least 150 EU/FE, the bow reaches full draw in 0.8 seconds, the arrow leaves 1.15 times faster with half the spread, and each shot costs 150 EU/FE. A fully drawn shot is a critical one, as with a vanilla bow.
- What arrow speed buys. An arrow's damage in Minecraft is proportional to its speed, so the faster arrow hits one point harder (7 against 6 point-blank, and the bonus holds out to roughly 50 blocks), flies further (≈ 146 blocks against ≈ 117 at the best angle) and flatter: over 40 blocks it drops 3.3 blocks instead of 4.5. There is no separate damage multiplier — it all comes from speed.
- Rate of fire. A full draw is 20% shorter, so continuous fire gives 75 full shots a minute against 60.
- Arrows. Always needed: plain, tipped and spectral — the same ones a vanilla bow takes. An arrow is used up whether the bow is charged or not.
- A flat bow. Below 150 EU/FE it draws like a vanilla bow, but however far it is drawn the arrow leaves at 0.1 blocks per tick and drops about a block ahead of the archer — no crit, 1 damage. The arrow is spent, EU/FE is not. The penalty is deliberate: the bow never breaks, and without it a flat Electric Bow would be a free plain bow forever. The shot that takes the last 150 EU/FE is still a charged one; the next one drops at your feet.
- Indicators. A charged bow is lit: two green lamps, a yellow bar, and while drawing the lamps along the limbs light up one after another. A flat one has two red lamps and a dark bar; the vanilla draw animation plays in both states, faster when charged. The tooltip shows the price of a shot and "Charge: X / 10 000 EU/FE"; below one shot's worth, a red "Empty" line takes the charge's place.
- Feels like a real bow in the hand. While drawing, the camera zooms in and the other hand is hidden, as with a vanilla bow; the hand pulls the string back fully exactly when the draw is complete.
- Drop/death/relog: the charge is stored on the item and persists.
- Creative: no charge is spent and no arrows are needed.
Progression
- The mod's second EU/FE weapon and the ranged partner of the Electric Saber.
- Available after the Battery Box and a battery: without LV infrastructure the bow can be neither crafted nor charged.
- The "Marksman" advancement is granted on obtaining the bow (parent: "Power Tools", the Electric Drill's advancement).
- LV tier.
