Metal Blocks
All variants

Summary
Metal blocks are a family of building blocks made from the mod's ingots. Each of the eleven ingots has its own storage block: nine ingots in one full cube, and when you need the metal again, the block breaks back down into nine ingots with no loss. That way hundreds of ingots are stored without taking up half a chest. The Block of Tempered Iron was already in the mod (its own page) and belongs to the same family.
Each of the twelve blocks makes stairs, a slab and a wall — just like vanilla stone or copper. Tempered iron also makes a fence.
| Metal | Block | Shapes |
|---|---|---|
| Tin, silver, nickel, uranium, palladium | storage block | stairs, slab, wall |
| Bronze, invar, cupronickel, electrum, netherite alloy, shielding alloy | storage block | stairs, slab, wall |
| Tempered iron | storage block (already existed) | stairs, slab, wall, fence |
Quick example: after a couple of hours in the mine, your chest holds three stacks of tin ingots. Pack them into blocks and the three stacks become twenty-odd blocks in a single slot. The spare blocks go into stairs and slabs for the workshop roof.
The blocks and shapes produce no energy and interact with nothing — they store metal and serve as building material. The exception is uranium: uranium in a block is still uranium and it radiates (see below).
Block Properties
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Shape | the block is a full 16³ cube; stairs, slab, wall and fence are the vanilla shapes with their own collision (the slab is half a block, the wall and the fence connect to their neighbours) |
| Hardness / blast resistance | 5 / 6 — the same as a Block of Iron; netherite alloy has 50 / 1200 — the same as a Block of Netherite |
| Tool | pickaxe; nothing drops without the right pickaxe |
| Drop | the block itself; a double slab drops two slabs |
| Sound | metal; netherite alloy sounds like a Block of Netherite |
| Beacon base | all twelve storage blocks; the shapes are not |
The pickaxe you need follows the vanilla metals: common metals are like the Block of Iron, precious and rare ones are like the Blocks of Gold and Diamond, and netherite alloy is like the Block of Netherite.
| Pickaxe | Metals |
|---|---|
| stone or better | tin, nickel, bronze, invar, cupronickel, tempered iron (and the fence) |
| iron or better | silver, uranium, palladium, electrum, shielding alloy |
| diamond or better | netherite alloy |
As items, the netherite alloy block, stairs, slab and wall do not burn in lava, just like netherite items.
Stairs form corners like vanilla ones; walls connect to each other and to vanilla walls. The Tempered Iron Fence connects to other fences and to the Nether Brick Fence, but not to wooden ones — exactly like the Nether Brick Fence in vanilla.
Each block's texture is drawn in the colours of its ingot: pure metals use the pattern of the Block of Tempered Iron, alloys use a bevelled plate with four rivets. The shapes use the texture of their block.
Uranium radiation
Uranium packed into a block does not become safe:
- In the inventory, the uranium block, uranium stairs and uranium wall radiate like nine uranium ingots, and the uranium slab like five (half a block, rounded up).
- Placed in the world, a uranium block irradiates a player standing nearby, and the Geiger counter hears it. A single slab counts as five ingots, a double slab as a block.
- All placed uranium blocks around a player count as one source at their centre, and that source is no stronger than one chest of uranium. A uranium wall is dangerous to stand next to, but it does not kill you from the far end of the room.
The protection is the same as against ingots: the shielding suit and distance.
Recipes
Storage block (crafting table): eight ingots of the metal in a ring and the mod's ingot in the centre → 1 block. The eight ingots in the ring may come from another mod — any ingot of the same metal fits (tin from another mod also crafts into our block, for example). The centre ingot is always ours: that way two mods with the same block of tin do not fight over one recipe.
Back to ingots (crafting table, shapeless): 1 block → 9 of the mod's ingots. Only this mod's block breaks down.
The Block of Tempered Iron is crafted the old way — from nine of its own ingots (no other mod has a shared tag for tempered iron, so there is nothing to clash with).
Shapes — like vanilla stone blocks, at a crafting table or a stonecutter:
| Shape | Crafting table | Stonecutter (from 1 block) |
|---|---|---|
| Stairs | 6 blocks → 4 | 1 |
| Slab | 3 blocks → 6 | 2 |
| Wall | 6 blocks → 6 | 1 |
The stonecutter is the better deal for stairs: six blocks give six stairs there, and only four at the crafting table.
Tempered Iron Fence (crafting table): each of the two rows is a tempered iron ingot, a tempered iron plate, a tempered iron ingot → 6 fences.
The shapes and the fence do not break back down into blocks or ingots — metal that went into a building stays in it.
Progression
Outside the mod's energy system and progression. The block arrives together with its ingot: as soon as you have nine ingots of tin, silver or an alloy, you can craft the block. The ingots are on the material pages: tin, silver, nickel, uranium, palladium, bronze, invar, cupronickel, electrum, netherite alloy, shielding alloy, tempered iron.
